Linton Meagher | Audrey Hepburn "Sabrina"
The unmistakable profile of Sabrina Fair, portrayed by Audrey Hepburn in Billy Wilder’s 1954 film Sabrina, emerges from hundreds of Botox vials, individually painted in oil and suspended within resin. The work references the character’s celebrated transformation from a shy chauffeur’s daughter into a poised and sophisticated young woman following her time in Paris.
Linton Meagher brings Sabrina’s transformation into dialogue with contemporary ideas of beauty, reinvention and the desire to resist ageing. While the character’s metamorphosis is expressed through confidence, experience and personal style, her image is reconstructed here through the clinical materials of cosmetic intervention - creating a deliberate tension between inner transformation and externally manufactured perfection.
Presented within clear Perspex, the work gathers and refracts the light around it. Shadows form between the suspended vials, lending Sabrina’s profile an ethereal, almost weightless presence - as though this enduring cinematic ideal of beauty and reinvention has been momentarily held in time.
