The experience
A commission begins with an idea. It may centre on a celebration, a family place or a wish to bring people together. ThatBook develops the concept, setting and creative team around the story.
Location, styling, atmosphere and production are considered together. The work may unfold over one day or several, anywhere in the world.
The photography
The photographs are made as part of the commission. ThatBook creates the circumstances in which the story unfolds, capturing the people, places and details that give it its character.
The private edition
The photographs are edited and sequenced before typography, paper, binding and finish are developed as one complete work. Artists, designers, printers and binders are brought together for the requirements of each commission.
The experience takes its final form in a book made for the people whose story it holds.
