An experience, conceived, lived and bound
ThatBook conceives, produces and photographs a chapter in a family’s life, then brings together artists, designers, printers and binders to transform it into a singular private book.
Each commission begins with an idea. The occasion, images, sequence and physical edition are created for the project. The work may unfold over one day or several, anywhere in the world.
The experience and the edition
The finished book is one half of the commission. The other is the experience created around it: research, creative treatment, setting, atmosphere and the people brought together to make it possible.
A commission may begin with a celebration already planned, a family place returned to each year or simply a wish to gather the people who matter. ThatBook may develop the concept, location and rhythm; coordinate set, wardrobe, styling, make-up, hospitality, music or performance; and assemble the creative team the story requires.
The photography
All photographs are created as part of the commission. ThatBook does not compile supplied photographs, letters or memorabilia. It produces the circumstances from which the story and its images emerge.
From experience to edition
Following the experience, the photographs are edited and sequenced, and the book’s typography, paper, binding and finish are developed as one complete work. Artists, designers, printers and binders are selected according to the requirements of the commission.
Private commissions
Each project is managed privately from the initial treatment through production and delivery. To begin a conversation, contact Three Over Six with an outline of the occasion, participants, preferred location and indicative timing.
