about the artist
Sydney-based artist, photographer and filmmaker Alina Gozin’a was born in Odesa and shaped by time in Berlin and New York. She moved from a career in banking and tax advisory into the visual arts, developing a practice across portraiture, documentary projects and exhibition works. Her first solo exhibition, Light at the End of the Tunnel, took place in New York in 2015; subsequent presentations have included The Doormen of New York City and Harlem Love Stories.

Gozin’a works with photographic images, luminous optical effects and eroded brass plates. Across these different formats, the image is a starting point for considering the lives and histories it contains. Changes in light, surface and viewpoint invite the viewer to spend time with a work rather than take it in at a glance.
