Three Over Six

Inside Three Over Six

A sculptural shoe, a jewel with a private history, a portrait that changes as you move. The connections behind Three Over Six in Double Bay.

A shared eye

At Three Over Six on Cross Street, fashion, art, jewellery and objects are considered together. A piece may be made to wear, to use or to look at, but the questions it raises often cross those boundaries. How has it been shaped? What does the material make possible? What rewards a second look?

Alexander McQueen’s Armadillo boot makes that connection clear. Its curved profile asks to be considered as sculpture as well as footwear. Alina Gozin’a’s portraits invite a different kind of attention, drawing the viewer beyond the photographic surface. Each gives us a reason to slow down.

That is the starting point for the collection: an interest in individual works and the relationships between them. An unexpected pairing can reveal a line, a colour or a way of making that might otherwise pass unnoticed. You do not need to collect in every category to enjoy those connections.

The life of a piece

The story of an object includes what happens after it leaves the maker. Who kept it, how it was worn and what survives alongside it can deepen our understanding.

The Mira Chai-Hyde Alexander McQueen Archive brings garments together with photographs and working papers. Mira’s recollections give those pieces a human dimension that a collection date or runway reference alone cannot provide.

The Hermès Sac Bijou Birkin, privately placed by Three Over Six, offers another perspective. In rose gold and blue sapphires, the proportions of a handbag become the language of jewellery. A small object opens a larger conversation about craft, scale and collecting.

These are the stories the journal follows: individual works, the people around them and collections kept over many years. They offer a way to continue looking beyond the boutique.

Come and look

In Double Bay, that conversation can begin with a material you want to see closely, a painting you have been thinking about or a piece you have only encountered in photographs. Scale, weight and surface are easier to understand in person. So is your own response.

You might come with a particular work in mind or discover an interest you had not expected. Ask about the making, spend time with a detail, or return to see a piece again. Collecting can develop through those small, considered decisions.

Private appointments offer time to discuss a collection or a sourcing enquiry. The conversation may concern a piece already here or something you are hoping to find.
