ABOUT THE ARTIST

Henrik Godsk (b. 1975)

Lives and works in Aalborg, Denmark

Henrik Godsk is a Danish contemporary artist whose paintings are defined by a synthesis of modernist reduction and timeless figuration. Rooted in a disciplined studio practice, Godsk constructs stylized portraits and still lifes that evoke the aesthetics of early 20th-century avant-garde movements such as Constructivism and Bauhaus, while remaining distinctly his own.

Working primarily in oil and mixed media on panel, Godsk employs a refined palette and deliberate geometries to create tightly composed works that balance flatness with depth, and symbolism with ambiguity. His figures—often depicted in frontal, mask-like poses—are rendered with a graphic clarity that speaks to both the spiritual and the surreal.

Godsk’s paintings explore the tension between ancient archetypes and modern sensibilities, resulting in compositions that feel both familiar and otherworldly. His work has been widely exhibited in galleries and institutions across Europe and the United States, and is held in several private and public collections.
