Sydney-based artist Linton Meagher works across painting and semi-sculptural assemblage, transforming unconventional and culturally charged materials into visually seductive compositions. Trained at the Julian Ashton Art School and the University of Sydney, his practice explores beauty, desire, mortality and the rituals that shape contemporary life.

Meagher has exhibited throughout Australia and internationally, including in London, Hong Kong and Singapore, with works held in numerous private and corporate collections.

In his celebrated Botox series, Meagher constructs portraits of cultural icons including Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot from hundreds of empty Botox vials. Individually painted and suspended within resin on clear or mirrored Perspex, the vials become both the material and the meaning of each image.

Seductive from a distance and unexpectedly clinical up close, the works examine society’s pursuit of youth and the increasingly manufactured nature of beauty—balancing glamour with intervention, and permanence with the inevitability of ageing.

Meagher’s coastal works combine tempera and resin with gold- and silver-mirrored Perspex. Waves, ocean pools, sea spray and reflected light appear suspended between painting and object, shifting subtly as the viewer moves before them.

Inspired by Sydney’s coastal landscape, these atmospheric works capture the fluidity of water and the instability of light, revealing a quieter and more meditative dimension of Meagher’s practice.
