Audrey Hepburn’s unmistakable likeness emerges from hundreds of Botox vials, each individually painted in oil and suspended within resin. At first, the portrait appears elegant and luminous; only upon closer inspection does its clinical construction reveal itself.
Through this subtle shift in perception, Linton Meagher brings an emblem of timeless beauty into dialogue with the contemporary desire to resist ageing. Glamour and intervention, permanence and impermanence are held in delicate tension.
Presented on clear Perspex, the work gathers and refracts the light around it. Shadows form between the suspended vials, lending the portrait an ethereal, almost weightless presence - as though an icon has been momentarily held in time.
