ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sydney-based designer Dimitri Vargas crafts sculptural furniture that merges timeless form, refined craftsmanship, and a deep respect for material integrity. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance architecture and organic natural forms, his work balances structure and softness, art and function.
Trained in interior design, Vargas began making furniture during the pandemic—an exploration that quickly evolved into a full-time practice. Working primarily in timber, oak, and stone sourced from Australian quarries, he creates bespoke pieces that harmonise with their surroundings while standing as sculptural statements.
Notable commissions include a four-metre carved timber dining table and a walnut and quartzite desk for designer Simone Haag. As his practice expands into lighting, joinery, and beds, Vargas continues to craft enduring, heirloom-quality pieces that celebrate form, material, and space.
