Sydney-based designer Dimitri Vargas creates furniture and objects that bring together sculptural form, functional purpose and a deep sensitivity to material. Initially trained in interior design, Vargas developed an early understanding of how objects shape the way we experience space. His practice now moves across furniture and object design, drawing from organic forms, natural materials and the quiet elegance of classical proportion.

Working across timber, marble and glass, Vargas balances intuition with precision. Some pieces emerge through free-flowing carving, guided by the grain, weight and movement of the material; others are developed through sketching, clay modelling and careful templating. This approach gives his work a sense of softness and spontaneity, while remaining highly resolved in form, proportion and finish.
