Alvin Ong is a Singaporean artist whose work examines the body as a site of memory, desire and psychological tension. Educated at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, and the Royal College of Art, London, Ong has developed a distinctive painterly language that moves between figuration and distortion, intimacy and unease. His figures often appear caught in states of transition — compressed, elongated, entangled or emotionally suspended.
Ong has exhibited internationally across Los Angeles, Sydney, Seoul, Brussels, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, New York and London. His work has been presented by galleries including Anat Ebgi, Ames Yavuz, Various Small Fires, rodolphe janssen and Yavuz Gallery, and has appeared in institutional and prize exhibitions including the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery, London. His works are held in collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, UOB Collection, Peranakan Museum, X Museum, Fosun Foundation, Ingram Collection and Sunpride Foundation.
